Company history

History of Development
1970 – The site for the plant construction was selected. The plant project was developed by the Leningrad Research and Design Institute of Basic Chemical Industry, with the participation of Proektstalkonstruktsiya, Lenstroypromproekt, Giprogazo-Ochistka, VNIIgazdobicha, VNIIETO, and Kazakhstan-based PromtransNIIPRoeсt and Vodokanalproekt.
1971 – The first blueprints for industrial construction and an access road were created.
1972 – Preparatory work on the industrial site began.
1973 – Construction of the plant’s industrial facilities commenced.
1974 – The foundations for all main workshops of the first construction phase were laid.
1978 – The State Commission of the USSR signed the acceptance act for the first launch complex, which included:
Sinter production from phosphate fines (capacity: 1 million tons/year)
Yellow phosphorus production (capacity: 55,000 tons/year)
Granulated slag production (capacity: 550,000 tons/year)
Phosphoric acid from phosphate-containing sludge (capacity: 16,000 tons/year)
1979 – The production complex for sinter, yellow phosphorus, and granulated slag was put into operation with the same capacities as in 1978.
1982 – New production facilities were launched, including:
Phosphoric acid from sludge (capacity: 28,000 tons/year)
Sinter from phosphate fines (1 million tons/year)
Yellow phosphorus (60,000 tons/year)
Granulated slag (600,000 tons/year)
Nitrogen (30,000 m³/hour)
Thermal phosphoric acid (60,000 tons/year)
1983 – Workshops for yellow phosphorus (60,000 tons/year) and granulated slag (550,000 tons/year) were put into operation.
1984 – Workshops for sodium tripolyphosphate (60,000 tons/year) and thermal phosphoric acid (60,000 tons/year) were commissioned.
1985 – The sodium tripolyphosphate production facility (60,000 tons/year) was launched.
1986 – Production of potassium tripolyphosphate (3,500 tons/year) and potassium-sodium tripolyphosphate (2,100 tons/year) started.
1991 – The company was renamed from Novo-Dzhambul Phosphorus Plant to NODFOS.
1996 – By order of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan (No. 725) on urgent measures to overcome the crisis in the phosphorus industry of the Zhambyl region, NODFOS was placed under external management by the company IBE TRADE CORP.
1997 – To help recover the phosphorus industry in Kazakhstan, the enterprises NODFOS, Superphosphate Plant, Karatau, Promtrans, and Phosphor were merged under the Department of State Property Management of the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan into the company Kazphosphor. Later, the “Tarazphosphor” branch was created.
1998 – The “Tarazphosphor” branch was reorganized into the “NDFZ” Production Cooperative.
1999 – The Government of Kazakhstan (Resolution No. 1580) established the Kazphosphate Holding to support the country’s phosphorus industry.
2000 – The Kazphosphate Holding acquired the Novo-Dzhambul Phosphorus Plant’s production complex.
2010 – A furnace gas utilization system was introduced.
2011 – Production of purified phosphoric acid (50,000 tons/year) and granulated sodium tripolyphosphate (20,000 tons/year) started.
2012 – Production of sodium hexametaphosphate (5,000 tons/year) and a flue gas purification system using bag filters were launched.
